Engine
The Engine is
a early 5 bolt 289 cubic inch small block. It's bored
0.040 over and TRW 10 1/2 to 1 forged pistons with
Perfect Circle rings, the crank has been turn and polish
and is held in placed with ARP studs. The rods have been
shot peened and trued. Felpro Gaskets keeps things
sealed-up. The fuel lines are 3/8" from the tank to carb.
A Holley high volume mechanical fuel pump and regulator
supplies the gas to a 1406 Edelbrock 600 cfm to dump the
fuel into a port matched Edelbrock Tarantula manifold. A
rice burner donated the cable linkage. The heads are
from a '68 302 that has been ported and cleaned up.
Under the fabricated aluminum valve covers are Cam
Dynamics Roller rockers requiring valve guides and
chrome molly pushrods. The cam is Erson hydraulic stick
with 493 lift / 310* duration and it's pushing down
1.94/1.60 stainless steel valves and dual springs
with harden seats. Cloyes double roller timing chain.
MSD 6AL box along with the Blaster 2 coil and Mallory
Unilite distributor fires the Autolite's with the help
from Ford Motor Sports 9mm plug wires. The exhaust is
Red's Tri-Y headers flowing into Summit's 2 1/2 Mustang
dual exhaust kit requiring center out instead of off set
out mufflers that came with the kit. Dual 10" Perma-Cool
electric fans and Griffin 2-roll aluminum radiator and
CSR electric water pump keeps it 190* at all times.
Inside the Moroso 9 quart oil pan with its kicked out
sump is a
Ford Racing windage tray and high-volume Melling Oil Pump that keeps the oil circulating.
