Paint/Body

I stripped everything from the car leaving a rolling shell. Both quarter panels were replaced with rust free factory panels to replace the quarters and outer wheel house that I cut up back in the mid-70's to fit fat tires. The rust damage, which was very minimum for a 60 year old car that spent 58 of those years outside, was replaces with either new metal or rust free factory panels.

I saved a section of the parts car's dash to repair the radio opening on the '60 that was butchered for an aftermarket unit. The orignal radio delete plate covers this extra work now.

After media blasting, the only real surprise was it wasn't bad at all. Epoxy primer was applied and several coats of high build primer with block sanding between each coat got things ready slick. Fresh seam sealer is now sealing the seams. After giving a lot of though about what color to choose I decided to stay with the factory Sky Mist Blue. The interior and radiator support was painted satin black. The stainless steel Windshield trim and rain gutters were buffed and polished to like new.

I found a new-old-stock grille, tail panel script and hood lettering and a head lamp door on eBay.
