Aftermarket AC
This is how I installed a Vintage Air Gen V that was designed for a non-AC 69/70 Mustang to fit a Maverick that was converted to factory air from a donor car. The AC dash with the center louver was not swapped at this time. I do have an AC dash I could use if I need to go down that road.
The metal firewall cover plate that came in the kit suppose to mount under the hood but it won't fit a Maverick without major surgery. The plate was mounted on the interior side instead.
The Mustang defrost duct that came with the kit is not going to fit. Since I'm not using the center dash vent a 4.5 in. x 8 in. eighth inch thick plastic with two holes for the flex hoses to pass through makes an adapter to use the Maverick nozzle. Bailing wire secures the duct to the plate. The plate is attached to the defrost nozzle flange with #10-32 bolts and lock nuts. If using a center vent a lot smaller defrost nozzle will need to be fabricated.
The flange on the left side of the Mustang dash bracket was cut off for defrost nozzle clearance. The Maverick doesn't use this bracket so why have it? The right side flange now has a 90* bend instead of two 45*. This aligned the Mustang bracket to the factory support bracket and U-nut perfect.
The drain hose is 1-piece instead of 5-pieces that is used on the Mustang. This will allow using the factory hole in the floor and also tucks the hose next to firewall giving the passenger more feet room.
The condenser mounting brackets was installed on the front of the condenser instead of the back. 1/2 in. X 1/8 in. flat bar was bent to mimic the factory condenser mount and then fastened to the Mustang mounting bracket. The top corners of the Mustang brackets were trimmed to allow the condenser to ride higher in the radiator support opening to catch more air. The dryer was relocated lower on the condenser to allow room for the hood prop rod.
The Mustang fan switch bracket in the kit does not fit. A Maverick fan switch was gutted to provide the bracket and lever. The cable converters attach directly to the controller's frame.
The compressor mount that came with the kit had the compressor almost too high for hood clearance. A different bracket replace what came with the kit.
